Angels Landing - Zion
This photo shows the last half mile of the hike to Angels Landing.
The hike is 5 miles round trip and ascends about 1500 feet from the
valley floor. The trail is steep but wide until you get to the last
half mile. It then becomes sandstone steps - both natural and man
made. There are long drop-offs but the footing is good and there are
large chains along the path that you can hang onto. The view from
the top is incredible. Unless you have a severe fear of heights, I
highly recommend it. It is an exhilarating journey.
This photo was taken on my first trip to Zion which was in May (a perfect time of year - warm but not too many people). There were wildflowers growing everywhere -
by the side of the trail and directly out of the sandstone cliffs.
Their beauty helped to keep my mind off the climb.
