This photo was not taken in Zion but off Hwy. 14, just a few miles east of Cedar City. I've included it with the Zion photos to give people a sense of the difference in climate you can experience within a 60 mile radius of Zion.Hwy. 14 takes you to Cedar Breaks National Monument. At 10,000 feet, Cedar Breaks doesn't usually open until May or later due to high snow. In mid April, Hwy. 14 was open but there was deep snow on both sides and the side road to Cedar Breaks wasn't open yet.
This was a gorgeous drive. The next day as I was hiking in Zion with temperatures in the 80's, it was hard to believe that this was the scene just a few miles to the north. You might want to compare it with photo 'The West Rim Trail' which was taken the next day.
