Capitol Reef National Park

This beautiful formation is called The Castle. It can be veiwed from Hwy. 24 near the Visitor Center.

Capitol Reef is open year round with temperatures ranging from the 90s in the summer down to the 40s in the winter. Spring and fall are great times to visit. Do be ready for thunderstorms. The season for these is July - September but I got caught in a spectacular one in May. Everything can be dry and 30 minutes later, there are waterfalls cascading off the cliffs. If you are taking a long hike, be sure that you have some protection for your camera.
