The Colorado River runs by the south end of Arches. This photo was taken from Hwy. 279, just southwest of the park. It was taken in late afternoon as the sun was reflecting off the orange cliffs behind it.

The Colorado was very large and, surprisingly, very quiet. I have seldom felt such peace as sitting beside it, just soaking in the beauty around me. What a wonderful way to end a day of hiking at Arches.
